I owned the previous version of this Hitachi Screwdriver and I really like it. I was working at a computer store and were building more than 10 computers everyday so I needed this. It was a great tool and always rely on it and could trust it.
I just received this one, which is a new model. It’s a little bigger and longer, but it’s ok. I like that the weight is a little lighter even if the tool is more massive. I like the new light which is a lot better then the predecessor. This Hitachi DB3DL2 has enough torque for my needs. I even almost always use the lowest settings and do the work every time.
Charging the battery is very easy and quite fast. It takes only 30 minutes to charge and having a second battery keeps me working all day without having to wait for the charger to full it.
I guess it’s not the best tool if you want to drill through hard wood and steel, but for screwing is Personal Computers, it works like a charm.
One things that isn’t a big but is quite annoying is that the battery end is round and there is no visual symbole that tell you which way you have to put the battery into the screwdriver. It annoys me cause I’m always asking myself this question when I have to replace the battery with the charged one. Not a big deal, but just wanted to say… Maybe Hitachi will solve this small issue in a later version of their screwdriver.
I wish there was some kind of option to lock the screwdriver into fold or straight position. I’ve pinched myself a few times while working with it and this is always driving me very crazy when it happens and want to throw it on the wall. But I never did throw it to test it’s durability! haha!
Don’t buy before you read this
If you are planning to buy the Hitachi DB3DL2 screwdriver, I would recommend that you first check the price on Amazon. They are oftenly unbeatable and in most cases, you even get free shipping to your door. You can probably find it to your local store too, but check the price anyway on Amazon before going there… you’ll have a better idea of what it is worth and you will get the best price for your tool.
